As of December 2018, TikTok had more than 500 million monthly active users worldwide, with about one billion total downloads across all platforms since its release in 2017.
The app has been criticized for promoting narcissism and being shallow because it encourages people to focus on themselves rather than connecting with others. It has also been accused of being addictive because it features a “live” mode which gives instant.
